Car park charges

The Strategic Management Group (SMG) has confirmed the car parking permit charges for 2010/11. These are in line with the policy agreed in 2007 that income should match the forecast expenditure on the car parks.

From September 2010, the new permit charge will be £35 per month, with day passes available for £3.50. (Current charges are £30 per month and £3.00 per day.) Day passes are again likely to be attractive to part time staff as well as encouraging staff to consider occasional rather than regular car use for commuting to work.

The permit charges take into account the cost of maintaining University-owned car parks plus the cost of renting additional spaces, wherever this is possible, to replace those spaces lost or unavailable because of the redevelopment of the University campuses.
