Welcome Week and LSU

Every year Liverpool Students’ Union (LSU) organises range of activities across the welcome period.
These activities include:
- Attending induction talks to promote the work of LSU and how this benefits all LJMU students, both new and returning.
- Hosting fairs across Welcome Week (Monday 13 - Friday 17 September) so students can discover and get involved with any of our vast range of sports, clubs and societies, from Women’s Rugby to our Mature Students Network. It is also an opportunity for us to make students aware of LSU’s support services, such as the Advice Centre, Course Reps and Community projects which ensure that students reach their full potential and have the best experience as possible during their time at LJMU.
- Running a range of events to help new students settle in to life at university in Liverpool safely, this year our Welcome Fest wristband is 2 weeks of student friendly events in the students union and across Liverpool. These events are also a brilliant opportunity to meet other students which is important in those first couple of weeks.
3 ways to help LSU and you over the welcome week period
- Ask LSU to be involved in your induction timetable – either a representative from LSU will be available to attend induction events or we will be able to supply information on what is the students’ union provides for students. If you have half an hour to spare during one of your induction events for LSU to talk to your students please contact Sian McGreary s.mcgreary@ljmu.ac.uk
- Include details of the welcome fairs in your induction packs – attached is a pdf of the welcome fairs that are running across the week, students may not want to attend every day, the fairs are run across the week to give as many students as possible the chance to come along. If a 2 hour slot could be given between Monday and Thursday students will be able come to down to the LSU, find out what’s on offer and get involved if they wish. We have a range of sports teams and societies that can run alongside courses and provide a brilliant extracurricular support network for students to reach their full potential whilst at university.
- Come along to LSU’s open day for staff on 25 August – every summer we host a free lunch and open day. You can meet our newly elected officer team plus members of LSU staff and find out about our exciting plans over the coming year. If you can’t make this date we would be happy to organise faculty or programme team meetings Please contact Sian McGreary s.mcgreary@ljmu.ac.uk if you would like to attend the lunch or to arrange a convenient time for LSU to come to you.
