Wedding celebrations for graduates

23 July 2010

Avid bell ringer and new LJMU graduate Sian Kipling found love among Liverpool’s church towers, when she met her husband-to-be, Sam Austin, during a meeting of the city’s campanologists.

Sian, who hails from Cardiff, left her home town in 2007 to study for a BA (Hons) in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice. She could never have guessed that three years later she’d be graduating with a husband as well as a degree. Huyton-born Sam is an organ scholar at Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral and he and Sian were first pulled together by their shared love of music. Now they are composing a new future together. Sian graduated from LJMU on Tuesday 13 July and then just four days later she walked down the aisle of Cardiff’s Llandaff Cathedral to marry Sam.

Neil Angelinetta, LJMU’s Customer Relationship Manager, also tied the knot on Saturday 17 July, just two days after he graduated with an MA in Marketing. “I have really enjoyed the course, although doing my dissertation in the same year as getting married and moving house might not have been great planning in hindsight,” he says laughing. “LJMU has been really supportive and I have learned a lot and gained skills from the course that I use every day in my role.”
