Summer university
26 July 2010
The Student Recruitment and Widening Access Events team recently hosted three weeks of residential summer universities for Year 12 pupils from Greater Merseyside.
Over 130 pupils came to LJMU to find out about a range of different courses including Sports Science, Coaching Development, Criminology and Criminal Justice, courses in the Faculty of Health and Pop Music.
The pupils who stayed in student accommodation also found out about student funding and received tips to keep them focussed on their sixth form studies.
Staff and students from all over LJMU were involved in making the Summer Universities a success, with one teacher commenting: "Our pupils absolutely loved the residential and have all found out a lot about university life."
A participating pupil added: "Thank you for helping me decide what subject to study at University – this will motivate me to work hard back at school in September."
