Student writer shines on Dragon's Pen

Merseyside writer and recent LJMU graduate Cath Bore won the attention of four out of four 'dragons' at Theakston's Old Peculier Crime writing festival in Harrogate at the weekend during their Dragon's Pen session, basely loosely on the TV show Dragon's Den.

Ten unpublished authors pitched the outline of their novels to a panel of four heavyweights of UK crime publishing, including agent Jane Gregory (whose clients include Val McDermid), Peter Robinson from Rogers, Colerdige & White (Ian Rankin, Lynda La Plante), publishers Daniel Mallory from Little, Brown and Julia Wisdom from Harper Collins.

All four representatives have agreed to read the opening chapters from Cath's novel, The Missing Link, after hearing an excerpt and a pitch which described the manuscript's highlights.

Cath will be talking to Mark Lawson on BBC Radio 4's Front Row Programme on Monday 2 August at 7.15pm about her experiences of the Dragon's Pen. Cath's debut film Past Glories was made by Liverpool film production company First Take earlier this year - the film's premier took place in the city centre earlier this month.
