Lecturers visit Hong Kong
29 July 2010
Three senior lecturers from the Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences recently presented their research findings to the 17th International Conference on Learning at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
Angela Pike discussed ‘Developing a Student Identity or managing multiple identities in neo-liberal times?’, Sue Holt presented findings on ‘Meta-Competence or Critical Thinkers? Explorations of the Theory Practice Divide’ and Frances Colbron shared her research on ‘Building Block for Future Nursing Management? The Impact of a Student Mentoring Service on a Student Mentor’s Personal and Professional Development’.
The conference was attended by delegates from all over the world including Tibet, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, Turkey, North America and Spain.
Angela commented: “It was an excellent opportunity to make links with and to discuss research being undertaken by colleagues in other countries. Throughout the conference it became clear that a number of the issues facing the education system in Britain are also being experienced in other parts of the world.”
