Sports Scholar Alumni bag medals for GB

Michael Rimmer and Martyn Bernard, two former LJMU Sports Scholars, performed impressively at the European Athletics Championships last week.

Martyn won a bronze medal in the high jump, thanks to a season's best of 2.29metres.

Southport’s Michael Rimmer claimed Britain's 12th medal of the Barcelona tournament, winning a silver medal in the men's 800 metres.

LJMU Sport Scholarship manager David McDermott commented: "It was an impressive week for GB athletics at the European Championships and it was great to see two of our LJMU Alumni Sport Scholars perform on such a big stage and getting on the medals podium."
