Prize Winner writes around the world

Debby Soetan, A KTP Associate who is based in LJMU’s School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations, is delighted that she has won first prize in the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Write around the World writing competition.

Her entry, which was entitled "Who is to blame? Man Vs Natural Variances" was a paper that considered the cause of Global Warming and compared the two sides to the story - Man's contribution through human activity versus natural variances such as volcanic activity and water vapour. The work investigated the findings of both camps and discussed the accuracy of these findings and the overall relevance to the Global Warming phenomenon.

Debby’s prize is an around the world trip and she will also present her winning paper at IET Young Professionals' Sections of her choice, in 3 different countries. In addition, she will be given some free time to spend in each country and will be featured in IET publications.

As a KTP Associate, Debby also works off-site at our partner company Heap and Partners and is currently working on a project on developing biofuels. She is also undertaking a PhD with LJMU, entitled: "Design of a Chemical Reactor capable of both Transesterification and Esterification of Waste Vegetable Oil".

Debby will be presented with her prize at an Award Ceremony in November.
