19 April 2005An Exhibition of Works by Former Students of the Liverpool Art School
Following the success of 'Liverpool 8' in 2002, the first open exhibition for former students of the Liverpool School of Art, LJMU has opened a second exhibition, 'Alumni: An Exhibition of Works by Former Students of the Liverpool Art School'.
The exhibition is a collaborative venture, staged across two venues, 68 Hope Street Gallery, and the Senate House exhibition hall at the University of Liverpool. Entries were invited from all graduates of the School of Art working in any two dimensional medium suitable for wall hanging.
Professor Colin Fallows, Chair of Research, Liverpool School of Art and Design; Professor Jagjit Chuhan, Chair of the Centre for Art International Research, Liverpool School of Art and Design; and Matthew Clough, Curator, University of Liverpool were the panel who selected the work and chose the prize winners who each received a cheque for £500.
Professor Fallows comments: ''This exhibition aptly demonstrates the wide variety of media, subjects and styles in which graduates of the School currently work. It was also very encouraging to see a broad range of former students entering, ranging from those who studied at the School of Art in the 1950s to graduates from the last few years.''
The prize winners were Tom Palin (pictured with Dean Of Faculty, Professor Roger Webster) and Alan Salisbury who was unable to attend the private view.
The exhibition runs until the 20th May at LJMU and until 27th May at Senate House.
