Graduate wins teaching award
08 February 2008
Mrs Sarah Brennan, who graduated from Liverpool John Moores University's Primary and Secondary Science Education with QTS, has been recognised by The Teaching Awards 2007 for her work at Baxter College, Kidderminster, being awarded the Teaching Award for Enterprise in the West Midlands.
Sarah was nominated for the award by her students, who helped set up a business at the College selling produce from their on-site allotment. The business has grown to a significant size and now holds a contract with the college kitchens, a contract negotiated by Sarah's students.

Primary and Secondary Education at LJMU
The science route that Sarah graduated from is just one of five programmes offered by the Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure in Primary and Secondary Education, which include Design and Technology, Maths, Modern Languages, Physical Education and Science. These courses are three years long, and all lead to recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) on successful completion, and train students to teach in both upper Primary (Key Stage 2), and lower Secondary (Key Stage 3).
More information on these courses and our other Initial Teacher Training provision is available from our website at: www.ljmu.ac.uk/teaching, or you can email us at: traintoteach@ljmu.ac.uk.
