"Tap and Print" - the new way to print at LJMU

PrinterAs part of the University's print strategy, new improved printing facilities are being introduced to all public areas over the coming days.

What changes are taking place?

Starting at Avril Robarts LRC, the existing print release stations are being replaced by new Multi Functional Devices (MFDs) which combine printing and copying facilities in one machine.  Using a "tap and print" approach, it's easy to get your print-outs when you need them.

  1. Tap your LJMU card on the device card reader
  2. Choose from the easy to read screen which documents you want to print, then tap print
  3. Press the logoff button when you have finished

Documents are held in the queue for 18 hours, after which time they will automatically be deleted.

There is no difference in the way you select your printer; full details are available here, and if you would rather print out to a 'managed' print queue (for example if you have not got your LJMU card with you) then you can continue to do this.  However, these printers will be restricted and will cost more to print from.

How do I find out more?

As well as the information here, each MFD will have a full colour poster nearby, containing step-by-step information on how to use it.

It is quick and easy, your documents remain confidential and, as you only print out what you need, it saves paper too.
