LJMU to host 16th Annual Congress of ECSS

LJMU Sports Science team celebrates winning the bid to host the 16th Annual Congress of the European College of Sport SciencesAt the recent European College of Sport Sciences (ECSS) Congress the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences was successful in bidding to host the 16th annual congress of the ECSS in 2011. This prestigious event will be held in the new Liverpool Convention Centre on the river front and will take place between 6-9 July 2011. It is anticipated that it will attract 2000 delegates from around Europe and from the Americas and Asia.

Chair of the local organising committee Professor Tim Cable commented: "this is a major coup for LJMU. In developing a strong scientific programme the conference platform will allow us to demonstrate our European and International influence in Sport and Exercise Sciences. In addition we will be able to showcase our research and employability excellence and welcome delegates to our dynamic and cultural city." The conference will cover all aspects of Sports Science, ranging from performance enhancement to health and physical activity.

There will be great opportunity to work alongside existing key stakeholders from the world of health and sport. The successful bid builds on strong relationships that have been developed over many years through the excellent work of Professor Tom Reilly in his role as Chair of Scientific Board of ECSS. The conference in 2011 will follow ECSS congresses in Oslo (2009) and Turkey (2010).
