Extended LRC laptop loan scheme

09 January 2009

More laptops are now available for loan in the LRCs.

To complement the highly successful scheme already running at IM Marsh, computer provision at both the Aldham and Avril Learning Resources Centres is being enhanced and expanded. A set of 20 laptop computers has been made available for staff and students to borrow at each site.

Each laptop connects to the LJMU wireless network, so users are able to access their network drives, work with email, search the internet and use our off-campus applications. It is also possible to edit documents locally and store work to a USB device or CD.

While they are only available for use within the Learning Resource Centre, and only on a daily basis, it is intended that the new laptops will afford users more flexibility in the way they use our library space. This scheme will allow even more users access to our IT facilities.

Laptops are available for loan from Monday 12 January 2009. The scheme will be further extended with the purchase of even more loanable laptops in the near future.
