Professor Iain Steele, 'Telescope 2.0: Big Iron meets Big Glass', Wednesday 11 February.
Staff and students are invited to attend Professor Iain Steele's Inaugural Professorial Lecture, entitled Telescope 2.0: 'Big Iron meets Big Glass' on Wednesday 11 February at the 4.45pm in the Peter Jost Lecture Theatre, Byrom Street.
In his lecture Professor Steele will discuss how the boundaries between telescopes, detectors and analysis are starting to merge - and how new methods of observational astronomy allow us to use software to define our telescopes and to construct 'global sky models'.
Professor Steele is the Director of the Liverpool Telescope and also Professor of Astronomical Technology at LJMU's Astrophysics Research Institute.
