Help build houses with Habitat for Humanity
The international charity, Habitat for Humanity, are seeking volunteers to help them build affordable housing for families on a low income in Liverpool in a one-off volunteering taster opportunity on Friday 20 February. To date, they have built over 100,000 houses in over 80 countries, housing 500,000 people.
The range of work includes:
- external work such as site clearance and landscaping
- concrete floor laying
- roofing
- carpentry
- painting and decorating
Absolutely no experience of this type of work is necessary and all equipment will be provided. This is an excellent way to help out a good cause, enhance your CV and meet new people. Why not bring some of your friends along?
Platform 2 - a unique opportunity to volunteer overseas
Platform 2 is aimed at young people aged 18-25 who wouldn't normally have the opportunity to volunteer overseas. It is designed to give you a completely new and challenging experience. It's totally free with flights, accommodation and living expenses paid for.
There are varied types of volunteer work available such as:
- constructing and renovating community buildings and developing new and existing outdoor areas
- caring for and teaching children in orphanages, kindergartens and schools
- building infrastructure at ecological centres
- assisting in HIV clinics and helping with peer education
The programme lasts for ten weeks and runs in South Africa, Ghana, Peru, India, Malawi and Nepal. This is an exciting opportunity to help support local communities in these countries, boost your CV and meet new people.
