Kensington Fields renovation

20 January 2009

Do you think you could help make a difference to a community centre in desperate need of renovation?

Kensington Fields Community CentreLJMU Volunteering need people with skills in all areas to help make Kensington Fields Community Centre a place its residents deserve and can be proud of.

Kensington Fields Community Centre offers the local community a range of different services reaching out to all ages. A safe haven for young people where they can express themselves through art, drama and sport, Kensington Fields does its best to raise the aspirations of young people offering them a constructive way to spend their time. For the older generations the Community Centre is a place to socialise where they can enjoy activities such as bingo and receive advice services supported by organisations such as Age Concern.

This space could easily be brightened up by simply ripping down the wooden panelling and giving the walls a lick of paint. However, it has much more potential and by utilising the skills and expertise of our staff and students, LJMU could really make a difference to Kensington Fields. There is a chance for staff and students to get involved right from the start with this project. There will be an opportunity for everybody interested to have a site visit before coming together and suggesting what could be done to improve the hall early on in February.

For those who would just like to get involved over the two days renovation work, the event will be taking place on the 23 and 24 February.

If you or your team is interested in getting involved with the Kensington Fields Community Centre renovation project please get in touch with the LJMU Volunteering team at volunteering@ljmu.ac.uk or call us on 0151 231 3850/ 3159.
