Influence University policy

Reward and recognition
The feedback from our UK Excellence Award success in 2008 highlighted one particular area for improvement. The assessors, based on their conversations with staff focus groups, suggested that LJMU could do more to celebrate success and recognise team and individual performance. In consequence of this feedback, we have decided to survey staff views on this issue, as the concept of celebration and recognition means different things to different people. Any University policy on this in the future needs to be guided by staff views.
We have therefore commissioned a short pulse survey - a major part of which will be an independently facilitated drop in discussion session. This will be on Thursday 19 March between 10am and 1pm at the Centre for Staff Development at LJMU Tower.
The distinguishing features of a university which will not tolerate discrimination of any kind
We have also commissioned another ‘pulse survey’ and invite staff to contribute to a drop in discussion session on ‘the distinguishing features of a university which will not tolerate discrimination of any kind’. This will take place at the Centre for Staff Development on Wednesday 18th March between 11.30am and 3.30pm.
All staff are welcome to contribute to both or one of these open sessions, please just drop in. We’d like to see a representative sample of all groups of staff. The University wants to improve working at LJMU – but can only do so with your expressed views and opinions.
It would be helpful if you could notify Paula Bartlett at the Centre for Staff Development on ext 5550 email p.m.bartlett@ljmu.ac.uk of your intention to participate to ensure that we have the minimum numbers for each event to be a success.
