Student visa changes

23 March 2009

From 31 March 2009 a new immigration system for students is coming into force.

Under Tier 4 (Students) of the Points Based System, students who want to extend their time in the UK will be required to show that they have £1200 in their own accounts for a minimum of 28 days. Students are also required to get a letter from the University, which they can get from the Campus Centres.

You must also fill in the application form fully and correctly and include all the required documents, evidence and payment – nothing less and nothing more. If you do not follow the exact instructions your application is likely to be refused or rejected as invalid.

To read more about it you can consult the guidance notes at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk/quickguideforstudent/adultstudents or email internationalwelfare@ljmu.ac.uk
