Board of Governors appointment

Following a call for nominations for the Academic Board nominee to the Board of Governors, one nomination was received.
Ms Kate Johnston, Director of Academic Delivery, Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure
As only one nomination was received, Ms Kate Johnston is duly appointed as the Academic Board representative to the Board of Governors for the period 18 April 2009 to 17 April 2011.
Ms Johnston’s supporting statement is as follows:
I have worked in higher education for over 20 years in both pre and post-92 institutions. I am Academic Board nominee on the University’s Quality and Standards Committee and have a commitment to the wider management of the University as exemplified through membership of the Information Management Steering Group and the Corporate Social Responsibility SIG. I have also recently qualified as an assessor with the European Foundation for Quality Management. I have a wider interest in corporate governance and have previous experience of management and trusteeship in the voluntary sector (as a volunteer with the Samaritans for 15 years).
