Taiwan Film Evening
03 April 2009
Dr Ming-Yeh Rawnsley, a Research Fellow from the Institute of Communications Studies, University of Leeds, presented a ‘Taiwan Film Evening’ on 25 March to LJMU language students and staff.
The audience was fascinated by the five short films and Dr Rawnsley’s talk following the screenings, which provided excellent snapshots of contemporary life in the Taiwanese society.
Dr Rawnsley is a specialist in Taiwanese mass media and has published several books in media and cultural studies about Taiwan. She worked for TV production companies in Taipei and London for several years as a scriptwriter, a journalist, and a producer.
This event is part of Dr Rawnsley’s national tour to bring the best short films from Taiwan’s rapidly expanding film industry to the UK. The tour also hopes to to create new public and academic audiences for these exciting cultural products and encourage cross-cultural knowledge exchange. The Liverpool Business School are privileged to see the films which are not available outside Taiwan.
