SERIG implementation update
20 April 2009
Over the past few weeks the SERIG team have been engaged in a series of meetings with Faculty teams to develop an effective and positive way forward for the implementation of student facing administrative services.
From this period of consultation, a detailed scope of activities has been established to separate out all of the services that will continue in the Faculties and services that will move to the student zones. A new timetable has been agreed to enable the newly integrated teams to settle into their roles and receive appropriate training before the service will be live for students.
With approval from the Vice Chancellor and agreement from the Deans, re-enrolment for September 2009 will remain Faculty-based. During Semester One, all of the staff moving into the student zone will be given time and space to understand their new roles and training will be put in place to underpin the new service model. The period of adjustment will also allow specific communications to take place with academic staff and with students to ensure that all of the support mechanisms are explicit and roles and responsibilities are clear for everyone.
The student zones will be in place in the remodelled LRCs and will be fully operational from the beginning of 2010.
On 21 May, there will be a series of Faculty meetings for staff to learn more about the student zones and the staffing model for each area, more details to be made available nearer the date.
