Walk for Charity
21 April 2009
Crosby Promenade and Hightown Dunes, Sunday 31 May 2009.
The Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences offers a network of student mentors who can help first year students settle into university life. Student mentors are second or third year undergraduate students who have undertaken training to allow them to provide appropriate support to first year students. They can offer study advice and support, demonstrate how systems in the faculty work and listen to any queries and concerns students may have.
To enhance the service they are already offering, they want to begin to organise events that give the chance for students and staff to come together and enjoy non-academic time. This is where the ‘Walk for Charity’ has come in.
All staff and students in the University (plus your family and friends) are invited to join us on Sunday 31 May at 11am to walk along Crosby Promenade and Hightown Dunes whilst raising money for Liverpool Red Balloon ,James Bulger House. The walk is approximately nine miles in total, there is no pressure, and you can walk at your own pace.
The registration fee is £5 and this includes: water along the route, a packed lunch at the end to enjoy on the beach and a Certificate of Achievement. Prizes will be given for the most money raised and if you manage to raise over £250 you get a free Helicopter ride. There is no minimum sponsorship required for this event.
