IRTE Student of the Year
24 April 2009
The North Western Centre of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) has recently introduced a Student of the Year award.
The award is presented to a student working towards a qualification and subsequent career in a field related to transport. This year it has been awarded to Phillip Au, a second year student on the BSc (Hons) Management, Transport and Logistics programme in the School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations at LJMU.
Phillip received his award at a ceremony held on Monday 20 April 2009. He is seen being presented with a shield by Puala Jones, Chair of the Centre. Also in attendance were Dr Charles Roberts, Programme Leader for the Management, Transport and Logistics course, and David Rimmer, IRTE Council member. Philip retains the shield for 12 months but in he receives a smaller shield to keep and a book token for £30.
Dr Roberts commented: “Phillip is a deserving recipient of this award for his work during the first two years of his degree. The award illustrates the strong links between this programme, the transport and logistics industry, and professional bodies such as the IRTE.”
