Learning and Teaching Conference
27 April 2009
Conference enjoys great success.
The eighth annual LJMU Learning and Teaching Conference was the most successful yet, with 244 delegates attending.
The two-day conference hosted 45 presentations on teaching practices and teaching-related research, covering a diverse range of topics on teaching innovations, learning technologies, assessment practices, student employability, learner support and professional development.
This annual showcase of practice placed students at the centre of learning with sessions co-presented by staff and students. The opening session, involving students and staff from LJMU’s Centre for Excellence in Teaching & Learning had a focus on the Centre’s ethos of student-centred learning, providing snapshots of the range of initiatives used to support students in learning about themselves, creating connections with employers and the wider world, and of the various projects designed to 'make it happen.'
There was particularly high participation from our collaborative partner institutions this year , with representation from Accrington & Rossendale, LIPA, Fleetwood Nautical College, The Manchester College, St Helens College, Dublin Business School, Blackpool & Fylde College, Stockport College, Riverside College and Wirral Metropolitan College, as well as from Northwest Ambulance Service and Merseyside Police.
