Staff Community Development Award
28 April 2009
If you could change one thing about where you live, what would it be?
Welcome to the LJMU Staff Volunteering Community Development Award. The award has been set-up to make a difference, bit by bit, to communities from across Merseyside.
How does it work?
Awards are available to staff from LJMU for anything that can be shown to benefit the community and encourage staff and students from LJMU to volunteer. The award is anything up to £1000 and projects will also receive support, advice and guidance in applying for the funding and setting up their project.
The awards are judged by staff from the Community Partnerships and Continued Learning team at LJMU. This allows us to give answers quickly on the outcome of applications.
What kind of projects do we support?
We support projects that bring people together to volunteer and benefit the communities in Merseyside, below are some examples of projects we have supported recently. The list is not exhaustive – we are always open to new and groundbreaking ideas.
Fundraising
We have supported a project that needed to money to buy football kits to take part in a fundraising event for bowel cancer .
Cultural
We have provided funding to support a cultural exchange between communities in Nepal and Liverpool.
Equality
We have provided support to a project that is promoting gender equality in Merseyside.
