Introduction

Research Centre in Evolutionary Anthropology and Palaeoecology

Evolutionary Anthropology is the study of humanness within a biological and evolutionary framework.  It is multidisciplinary and draws upon numerous subfields and disciplines, including primatology, archaeology, biological anthropology and evolutionary psychology.

Palaeoecology is the study of the interaction of organisms with their physical and biotic environments in the past.  Modern humans and their fossil relatives lived and evolved in response to their environments, so an understanding of palaeoecology and past environments is necessary to understand human evolution and behaviour.
