RAE 2008 Results

Liverpool John Moores University is one of the leading research-active contemporary universities in the UK with the recent RAE2008 results confirming World-leading and internationally-excellent research quality right across the Institution.

The Institution's research profile and reputation have developed rapidly over recent years as evidenced by our performance in RAE2008 coupled with the sustained rise our external research income (more than trebling since 2000). The underlying demography of our research-active staff is encouraging and we have a relatively large cohort of young research active staff who will contribute to our research profile over future years.

The Institution's current Strategic Plan (2007-12) highlights research as one of our core key processes and it is implicit in our mission statement: "…advancement through education, training, research and the transfer of knowledge". At LJMU research is pivotal in knowledge transfer engagement with key stakeholders in industry, commerce and throughout the public sector.

To undertake research at the highest level we must provide our researchers with the appropriate facilities and infrastructure. A fourth major round of investment in our research infrastructure (coupled with a major capital investment programme) is currently underway. Building on previous initiatives in recent years it will continue to support our major research strengths in science, engineering and in the arts and humanities.
