Visa Extension

If the duration of your course goes beyond the expiry date specified on your Visa you must apply for an extension which needs to be supported by a letter from LJMU. To obtain this letter you must complete a Visa extension form at your Student  Zone. A copy of your request will be kept on file and you must inform the Student  Zone of the outcome of your application for extension within 6 weeks of the application. If you fail to comply with this deadline holds will be placed on your account that will prevent any access to LJMU systems.

Full details of the procedure for requesting a Visa extension with the UK Border Agency are available on their website on the UK Border Agency website.Visa extension requests cannot be made for changes of courses. Your Visa is only valid for the course specified in your offer letter.  If you are changing courses then you must apply through the International Office.

You may download a copy of the Visa Extension request here and then forward to your Student Zone.

Students studying on taught postgraduate or research programmes may require an ATAS certificate which needs to be presented at the point of applying for a visa application. You can find further details of the procedure on the ATAS website. For information regarding the subject codes of the programme you are studying please contact your Student Zone

Students requiring a Post Study Work visa should complete the same form and either e-mail or hand it in to their Student Zone
