Important Examination Information For All Students
University Examinations will take place from Monday 16th April - Friday 4th May 2012 inclusive. The Examination Timetable will appear here by Monday 19th March 2012
It is the responsibility of all students to check the examination timetable. The regulations permit up to six hours of formal examination in any one day. The University defines a clash as two examinations at the same time. In the unlikely event that you have a clash-or any other query, it should be reported to the School with responsibility for the module(s) immediately
Special Examination Provision : Please note that if you require special examination provision this must be arranged and approved prior to the start of the examinations. Please contact the relevant Student Zone for further details.
- You must check the Final Timetable to ensure you have the correct details of your examination(s). Do not rely on friends to pass on the information. It is your responsibility to present yourself for assessment at the correct time and venue. The location of venues will not be considered grounds for appeal or mitigating circumstances.
- Note the format of the timetable, in columns headed EXAM [module code], TITLE [module title], DURATION [length of exam] DATE & TIME [i.e. 13.30 13/12/2011 ] ROOM [i.e. Crypt Hall, Tom Reilly Building 145 etc].
- While every effort is made to avoid scheduling more than one exam per day per student, this is not always possible and you may have more than one exam per day, up to a maximum of six hours of assessment per day and exams on any number of consecutive days.
You are advised to check the notice boards, e-mail etc. again prior to your exams in case of any local changes.
- Examinations may be set between 9.00 a.m. and 9.00 p.m. Please check the starting times carefully as they may differ for each of your exams. Students are normally allowed into the venue 10 minutes before the start of the examination. It is your responsibility to ensure that you arrive on time - latecomers may not be admitted.
Please make sure that you know the venue of each of your exams - If you have more than one exam the venue may vary for each exam. Please make sure you know the starting time of your exam, starting times may vary from day to day.
For directions how to get to the various exam venues visit the following: www.ljmu.ac.uk/routeplanner.asp A reminder to students travelling to the Crypt at the Metropolitan Cathedral that car parking is not available on site or in the immediate vicinity. You are strongly advised to use public transport rather than travel by car.
CRYPT HALL: Some examinations will take place at the Crypt Hall which is part of the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. The entrance is on Brownlow Hill, the building is situated between a parade of shops (which includes a Tesco, Costa Coffee, Greggs etc to the left, and the Art and Design Academy, to the right, which is part of Liverpool John Moores University. The entrance to the building is up some stone steps and through a large, wooden, double door.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- All students must be aware that academic impropriety, including cheating in examinations, constitutes a serious offence. Penalties can range from the reduction of marks to exclusion from the University.
- Students are required to have their University Registration Card with them for all exams. You will be required to insert your 6 digit person number (sometimes referred to as a registration number) shown on your card on all examination attendance slips and answer books.
- All brief cases, bags, coats and material not specified for the examination must be left in a designated area and candidates may place on their desks only the materials specified for the examination.
- The use of dictionaries is not permitted unless specified in the rubric of the examination paper.
- Do not take any valuables into the examination room. You will not be permitted to keep any personal belongings on or near your desk and the University accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage of student's personal property.
- Switch off mobile 'phones, pagers, watch alarms etc - students who fail to do so and disrupt an examination may be subject to disciplinary proceedings. Students are NOT permitted to have 'phones, pagers or electronic organisers on or near their desks.
- No food of any kind can be taken into any of the examination venues. For reasons of safety and to minimise disturbance, candidates are not permitted hot drinks, fizzy drinks, cans or glass bottles although a plastic bottle of still water is permissible.
- Smoking is not permitted in any of the examination venues.
- Candidates who refuse to obey the instructions of an invigilator shall be deemed guilty of a breach of discipline.
- As soon as your exams are over, please leave the venue quickly and quietly, with due consideration for students who may still be sitting exams in the vicinity.
- Students must remain in the examination room for the full duration of the examination.
