Christine is a member of the Primary Team in the School of Education and teaches on both the Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses. She is a Module Leader for English in Y1 and in Y2 of the Undergraduate course as well as a Module Leader for Understanding Additional Learning Needs. Christine also teaches on Professional Studies modules on the Undergraduate course.

Christine taught in primary schools in Knowsley and Halton for over 20 years before working in Higher Education and has experience teaching in all of the primary year groups. She has held senior leadership posts in two schools including Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher. Christine was a teacher governor for a number of years and continues to be involved in school governance as a Foundation Governor in a Knowsley primary school.

Christine's research interests centre around primary English, specifically reading. She has enjoyed working with the Open University and UK Literacy Association leading Teachers' Reading Groups and is involved with the UK Literacy Association Book Award scheme. She has co-authored a paper on phonics and early reading and is currently engaged in work with local schools and the Carnegie Book Award scheme researching the impact of reading for pleasure.
