A simulation advocate and current interim simulation lead, that firmly believes and encourages working jointly in a safe, flexible and immersive environment that uses technology to enhance the learning experience, bridging theory and practice. Giving us the opportunity to learn together, develop critical thinking and flourish, utilising simulation based education that adapts and changes to community needs.

Prior to my transition to higher education, for 15 years I worked mainly within critical care. I was a senior and integral member of the team in planning and establishing a high dependency unit, which I trained, managed and led a team of over 40 staff.

Since joining LJMU over 15 years ago, I have been involved with designing and delivering a wide range clinical and innovative simulation based education to a diverse range of health professionals, recognition was given with being awarded the Teaching and Learning Excellence Award for Technology and Simulation in 2019.

I have planned led and delivered the first Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Course for student nurses in the UK and recently was pivotal in designing and delivering the first highly successful tariffed simulation placement in the UK. Utilising technology and innovative simulation based methodologies, enhancing the learning experience and preparing students for practice.

Having over 15 years education experience planning and delivering a wide range of clinical and simulation based education to a diverse range of health professionals, recognition was given with being awarded the Teaching and Learning Excellence Award for Technology and Simulation in 2019.

I teach across pre and post registration programs, from level 4 to level 7. I have run very successfully a level 6 pre-registration clinical module. This is evident in having one of the consistently highest university evaluations from students each year, being nominated for several teacher awards and recently nominated for educator of the year by students for the Nursing Times. Students well being and learning has always been a priority, therefore winning LMU personal tutor of the year 2020 demonstrates my further commitment to LJMU students.
