Sam Pearson

Sam is a registered mental health nurse and non-medical prescriber who has working in a range of clinical settings across community, forensic, acute and urgent care.

He has worked in higher education for a number of years teaching both pre and post registration programmes. Across these provisions he has delivered content to nurses, nursing associates, paramedics, midwives, medics, occupational therapist and radiographers at various stages of their careers. On subjects including Mental Health, Assessment, Treatment, Evidence based Intervention, Care Planning, Risk Assessment, Pharmacology, Psycho-Pharmacology, non-Pharmacological Approaches, Frailty, Practice Learning, Quality of life, Simulation & Clinical Skills, Safer Prescribing and Evidence based practice.

Within Higher Education Sam has developed BSc programmes in Contemporary Mental Health and supported the development and validation of Non-Medical Prescribing with the NMC, HCPC & GPhC.

He is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Professional Studies, and has research interests in psychological wellbeing, mental health and gender identify. Sam has previously published articles on the NMC Standards for Education and the role of Advanced Practitioners within Speciality settings. He has also published book chapters relating to on quality of life and non-pharmacological approach in non-medical prescribing.
