Buy/sell course books

Enterprising students launch website

John Murray and Martin Lawes are both LJMU Business Studies students who spotted a gap in the market for a website which allows students to buy and sell course books.  With support from LJMU staff, they took the initiative to set up a non-profit internet business which allows students to register a list of university books that they wish to sell.

Students wishing to purchase second-hand books can use the website to browse for titles available and they can then arrange to purchase them directly from the seller.

John and Martin are keen to praise the assistance they got from staff within LJMU, saying "We gained valuable information about the set up and running of the business from numerous professional advisors including Mr Mike Kennedy (senior lecturer in Enterprise at Liverpool John Moores University) and an associate who is a successful website designer.

"The website is set up to benefit students who may not be able to afford the full retail prices on current recomended textbooks and also for students to make some money back on the text books they have purchased, but no longer need."

To register a list of books for sale, or to browse the titles on offer, please visit the University Books 4u website at:
