Management of Complex and Chronic health Needs in Paediatrics

Level 7: 20 credits

This module is from the MSc Advanced Paediatric Critical Care Practitioner programme and [part of the Post Qualification Framework in the Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences. 

Aim of the course

To challenge students to consider the complexities associated with the care management of neonates, infants, children and young people with complex and chronic health needs.

Structure and length of the course

The programme will be delivered during a 15 week academic semester. There will be a briefing/registration day to introduce the students to WIMBA and the concept of blended learning. The induction session will be followed by 2-3 hour study sessions each week at University or via WIMBA.

There will be a blended approach to learning. This will include interactive lectures, seminars, tutorials; on-line discussion boards; problem-based learning exercises; workshops: self-directed and reflective learning; video streaming; reflective practice; and case presentations.  Students will be supported throughout by the programme leader and clinical experts. Learning resources will be accessed by all students via the LJMU Avril Robarts Learning Resource Centre.

Attendance:

There will be one intake a year February to May.

 

Standard Entry:

Current registration as a healthcare professional working within paediatrics for over two years
Appropriate post-registration experience
That the candidate has the learning capability, study opportunity and commitment to embark on the programme.
Flexibility of thought and capability of reflection


Prospective candidates may be required to attend an interview in order to provide evidence to support their application.

Award

A Certificate in Professional Development
20 Academic Credits at Level 7
