Negotiated Work Based Learning

student taking notesAim of the course

To enable healthcare professionals to maximise work based learning opportunities in order to facilitate career and professional development.

Content

Is negotiable dependent on the selected area of study. This maybe identified by the student and their manager as a result of individual performance review or it could be an independent project.

A learning agreement based on the selected area of study is then developed with a university facilitator and work place mentor /assessor. Individual aims and objectives and assessment strategies are discussed and agreed. The agreement maybe based for example, on a wide range of learning opportunities arising from Skills for Health, Occupational Standards, NMC Standards for professional practice, Higher Level Descriptors or Standards for Better Health. It may also be based on an individual area of interest or practice development interest that has arisen from formal attendance at a CPD or an in-service development programme.
