Undertaking postgraduate research
LJMU demonstrates ‘world-leading’ research in 70% of its disciplines
The quality of LJMU’s research is reflected in the University being awarded the highest Research Excellence Framework (REF) rating for our Physics submission in the UK in 2011.
The range of research opportunities at LJMU is considerable. From developing cutting edge new technology to detect brain tumours more accurately and quickly to ground-breaking studies on the impact of the recession in UK cities, our researchers are helping to inform public policy, shape new laws, transform lives and improve the environment.
So if you are interested in carrying out your own research, you should think seriously about LJMU’s MPhil and PhD programmes. Supervision is available in each of our five faculties and we also offer Professional Doctorates, an alternative to a PhD for staff in organisations who want to research and develop their professional practice at doctorate level.
