Public Health - can you make a difference?

Are you interested in developing your public health knowledge and skills and applying them to your work?  Then why not join the innovative Public Health Programme at Liverpool John Moores University.  This Master’s level taught programme offers you an opportunity to study public health in a multidisciplinary and participatory learning environment.  This approach enables you to view population health from a number of different perspectives and enhances your understanding of the peoples and processes involved in promoting public health.

What makes the applied route unique?

The programme focuses on a number of core skills, competencies and knowledge in the workplace and is based around the national occupational standards / competences for public health specialist practice.  The course not only caters for your personal development needs but also strengthens public health capacity within organisations.  With an emphasis on applied practice, the course offers insights into how to tackle health inequalities, promote health, make healthy choices easier and teaches you how to work in partnership.

The Public Health is open to a wide range of professionals working in health related and social context, as well as those already employed in public health practice. It is also available for people desiring to increase their public health knowledge and develop a career in public health.

How can I apply?

You will normally have a first degree in any discipline, but those with equivalent experience will be considered and the programme leader will ask for evidence of your suitability to study at Masters level by asking you to submit work for assessment e.g. a portfolio of written and other work; papers presented at conferences, publications; reports and research proposals. 

Moreover we are looking for applicants with a passion or commitment towards improving public health.

The programme starts in September each year.
