Introduction
Media Professional Studies with Television is an industry-linked degree. The three main areas of study are media business, media production and media studies.
Teaching is led by research-active and experienced industry practitioners and guides students towards a critical and historical understanding of television, film and new media cultures. It also provides an awareness of a broad spectrum of the media industry, including its products, budget, legal and ethical issues and of the production skills and values that underpin its productions. In both production and media business Media Professional Studies with Television has working to industry standards and briefs and familiarity with industry practice central to its learning.
The course is taught at the Liverpool Screen School, which is the only Skillset Media Academy in the North West, and is a 'preferred Higher Education Partner' for BBC North. Skillset Academies are 'centres of Excellence' in media education and training.
Specialised teaching facilities include computer labs, edit suites, location camera units and a TV Studio, as well as conventional teaching and lecturing spaces and pleasant social and informal study areas.
Media Professional Studies with Television provides a multi-skilled education and training route for those interested in pursuing a career in the media. It will enable you to build a portfolio of work, gain work experience and build contacts in the industry. At the end of this degree our students are well equipped to compete for posts in this field and many others or go on to study for a higher degree.
