Introduction
Are you fascinated with popular music styles, performers, songs and the way the industry operates? Would you like to take this interest into exciting new areas of opportunity? Here at LJMU we have the expertise to help you dream, plan and achieve. Our lecturing staff are experienced authors, administrators and practitioners who are eager to pass their skills on to you.
As well as studying the histories and technologies, you will go on to look at audiences and the global market, as well as increasingly focussing on gaining the hands-on skills needed in the world of work. In your final year you will experience placements working in the music/media industry. These positions can lead on to paid employment and, in some cases, to rewarding careers after graduation.
Our department has links with organisations as diverse as AD Lib Audio, Radio Merseyside, Barfly, FACT and the Tate Gallery. In addition, many of our graduates go on to set up their own production companies, or to proceed into further education or teacher training.
Based in the recently opened Art and Design Academy, in Liverpool's city centre, we are equipped with up to date, high quality audio-visual facilities. The Popular Music Studies degree offers you a unique opportunity to transform an interest, or an aspiration into a life changing future.
