Introduction
The BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Liverpool School of Art and Design offers a truly unique opportunity to engage with the practice, production and publication of contemporary art in one of Europe's leading cultural hubs.
The Fine Art course is designed to introduce students to the processes involved in making and showing contemporary art from Level One onwards. Students are asked to produce critical and ideas led art projects, in any suitable medium, that can be developed to a professional standard. Students are also encouraged to network in Liverpool art and to exhibit/show their work at various locations around the city. The idea of our course is to help graduates who will be ready to make meaningful and critical contributions to the world of contemporary art practice.
Liverpool is the ideal city in which to do this. Boasting more museums and galleries than any other city in the UK outside London, and having been European capital of Culture in 2008, Liverpool is rapidly becoming regarded as a European Centre for Contemporary Art. The major Contemporary Art institutions in Liverpool are Liverpool Tate, Liverpool Biennial, A- Foundation, FACT and the Bluecoat. All of these institutions directly support the work we are doing with our students. We also wok with major organisations in the UK and abroad such as Grizedale Arts, Van Abbemuseum.
