Introduction
Do you like looking at art and design from different periods? Do you like writing? Do you like visiting museums and galleries? If you are interested in uncovering more about artists and designers and their works and if you are considering a future career within the arts, then you should think about studying for a degree in History of Art and Museum Studies.
History of Art and Museum Studies is taught in collaboration with Tate Liverpool. Some lectures take place in the Tate auditorium and great use is made of the Tate's art collection. The degree also exposes students to the impressive wealth of art and design in other galleries and museums on Merseyside. Uniquely, there are several practical elements to the course, these make it perfect for anyone who wants a career in curating, art education, teaching, postgraduate study, conservation or writing. With involvement from Tate staff, students learn what it involves to be a professional curator and they also present their researched work in conference settings. There are also many integrated opportunities to perform internships at arts organisations - for example: previous students have been interns at the Guggenheim Museums in New York and in Venice.
This degree offers a modern twist on History of Art and looks to the future employability of students. Projects and activities are dynamic and ensure that students leave the course as well rounded individuals and not only as academics. This degree combined with our 'World of Work' initiative will make you a graduate valued by employers.
