Introduction

The globalisation of business has caused many companies, academics and students to see the internationalisation of the curriculum and the development of foreign language skills as a desirable, even necessary part of Business Studies. In response to this growing demand from employers the programme was created to combine international business and language studies.

The International Business Studies and Chinese degree aims to produce graduates with a high level understanding of a foreign language and sound cultural awareness, invaluable in this very competitive global market. As a result, career prospects for graduates are excellent.

The programme offers you an opportunity to become a specialist in the area of international business with the added benefits of developing linguistic proficiency in Chinese. Students will spend a year in China and can choose to complete a work placement in a business setting. This practical hands-on experience equips students with a range of transferable skills that will provide students with a solid foundation for a future career within the business environment. Alternatively, students may complete a research activity instead.
