Introduction

This programme intends to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the main relevant technologies associated with Information Technology and multimedia, including internet applications development and the management of e-commerce.
 
The course is aimed at those students who wish to adapt multimedia to mainstream Information Technology applications development. The main themes of the programme are business systems analysis and development, multimedia systems development and software development. In addition to these themes, students have final year option modules that will enable them to specialize in specific areas such as IT security, IT management and digital sound and audio production. In the final year, students will be ready to undertake the major project required for the completion of this programme.

Potential careers for graduates include: Internet applications development, Website development, Management of Internet technologies, Systems developer, IT Project Managers, Computer Sales Support, Database administrator, Web developer/multimedia programmer, Teacher. Advanced possibilities for postgraduate study also exist both nationally and particularly within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences which offers eight Masters Programmes, as well as a number of postgraduate research programmes.
