Introduction
Are you fascinated by the Built Environment, its complexities and its buildings? Are you interested in joining a profession that is forward thinking, dynamic and contributes significantly to the development of the Built Environment? Are you keen to contribute to the success of the construction industry by taking the lead in the management of the cost and financial aspects of construction? If you want to be part of a team and work with people in a problem solving context then this Quantity Surveying degree is for you!
What is Quantity surveying?
Traditionally, the Quantity Surveyor’s main area of expertise has been in the measurement and valuation of construction works. More recently the Quantity Surveyor is actively involved in the legal, contractual and procurement aspects of the construction process.
What is in the course?
The course aims to provide students with a broad education in technology, measurement, management, law and contract. It has been devised to allow students to develop skills in these areas and apply them via project based modules founded in “real” construction scenarios. Students also have the option of taking a one year work placement in the industry.
Professional Accreditation
The course carries full professional accreditation from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Career Opportunities
Students have opportunities to work as Quantity Surveyors for clients, contractors or professional practices, taking up employment locally, nationally and internationally.
