Introduction
It is an exciting time for the media industries, a time of change and possibilities. If you have ideas for multiplatform TV, for games, for mobile applications and enjoy making media products, if you would like to take a lead in shaping new media experiences, then the iMedia course is for you.
Interactive Media Design is a blend of design, technology and media. It covers: design and visual language skills, new media production methods, specialist software skills, creativity and experimental practice. The course encourages a researched and experimental approach focusing students on creating new and engaging interactive experiences.
On the course students learn tool sets to design and develop concepts for a variety of platforms and screens; from PCs and mobile screen, to interactive TV and games devices.
This is a practical course and students produce 2d and 3d animation, websites, videos, games, installations and research presentations. These projects reflect experimentation with narrative, animation, play, connectivity, navigation, interaction, interface design.
We expect iMedia students to have the drive, commitment and imagination to produce their own content, a desire not just to interact but to create.
Our graduates progress onto employment with new media companies as: new media developers, web designers, animators, designers and producers of interactive digital content or go onto postgraduate study/research.
