The Liverpool LOgistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Research Institute was formulated with the formal approval from the Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in June 2010. The Institute currently holds over £1m external funding primarily from the EPSRC, EU and DTI. The Institute has 11 full academic members, 10 associate members, 26 doctoral/postdoctoral researchers, and 5 external members. The LOOM Research Instutute is equipped with a wide range of risk modelling and decision-making tools. The Institute also works with the Lairdside Maritime Centre http://www.lairdside-maritime.com/ and the main teaching groups to deliver undergraduate and post graduate courses in Marine and Offshore Technology and Maritime Operations, Transport and Logistics.
