How to find a work placement

Finding a placement

The key to getting a placement is to start applying early and to stay motivated and determined with your application - there are placements out there but you must be willing to search for them.

The ESU will advertise placement vacancies on the LJMU My Jobs and Vacancies site: and will flag opportunities up on facebook so please 'like' our page so you don't miss out.

Alternative websites which advertise placement vacancies include:

The Preparation for Work Guide provides a wide range of useful information, please Contact Us for further details.

Employers use a range of application techniques, application forms, on line applications, CVs and covering letters. It is useful to take advantage of opportunities to practise these and ask for feedback from placement or academic staff before you submit them to your chosen companies.

Employability Team

Each year, the World of Work Careers Centre arrange a programme of Careers and Company Presentations aimed at final year students. You are strongly advised to attend any of these talks for background information about companies or careers. Look out for the programmes on the WoW website.
