Maintenance Grant - Students Who Started Their Course Prior to 1st September 2012
If you’re a full-time undergraduate student, you can apply for a means-tested Maintenance Grant to help with your living costs. You don’t have to pay this money back.
If you are a full-time student and depending on your household income you maybe entitled to a non-repayable maintenance grant. You don’t have to pay this money back and it’s up to you to decide what to spend it on. Part-time and EU students are not eligible for this grant. If you have previously studied at university or other higher education institution, you may not be eligible for this grant either.
If you have an underlying eligibility for means-tested benefits, you will be awarded a special support grant instead of a maintenance grant. This is assessed in the same way as the maintenance grant but Job Centre Plus will disregard this grant when assessing your benfits.
