Film Studies

An innovative mix of traditional Film Studies and practical production, the degree combines the critical and historical study of cinema with a thorough introduction to digital filmmaking. The Film Studies degree gives a strong basis for a career in the moving image industries, teaching or further academic study.
Courses are taught by research-active academic staff and by experienced industry practitioners.
"Film continues to be perhaps the world’s most influential form of entertainment and expression. Its ability to reflect culture and identity, and increasingly to stand out in the clutter of the digital world, grows from year to year. Film is an art form to be appreciated, enjoyed and understood – and a hugely powerful commercial tool, helping to power our creative economy and bucking financial trends." (UK Film Council, November 2009)
