The Queens Diamond Jubilee

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Holiday (5 June 2012)

The Government has announced that that Monday 4 June 2012 and Tuesday 5 June 2012 will be bank holidays. This means that the traditional bank holiday at the end of May will be moved to Monday 4 June 2012 and there will be an additional Jubilee bank holiday on Tuesday 5 June 2012.

All staff at LJMU will be entitled to an additional day of leave, to be taken on the same basis as other public holidays that fall outside the Christmas and Easter closure periods. It is recognised that some University activities may continue to operate.

The following principles will therefore apply:

• Full time staff who do not normally work on bank holidays, and are not required to support any of the University’s activities on the 5 June, can take this day as paid leave.
• Part time staff who normally work on a Tuesday, and are not required to support any of the University’s activities on the 5 June, can take this day as paid leave.
• Part time staff who do not normally work on Tuesdays are entitled to a day’s leave.
• Those who are asked to work on 5 June will be entitled to normal local arrangements for bank holidays, as agreed with their line manager.
• Annual leave already booked for 5 June should be cancelled.

If you have any enquiries regarding these arrangements please contact your Human Resources Adviser directly.
